Frontier Design Group is now shipping Zulu(tm), a 4-input/8-output external
digital audio converter for computer-based systems. Zulu combines
high-resolution 20-bit A/D and D/A converters with ADAT® optical digital
I/O for superior audio performance in a truly affordable package.
Combining Zulu with an ADAT digital I/O card such as WaveCenter(tm) -- also from Frontier Design Group -- eliminates noises that plague other computer soundcards. No more disk drive pops, monitor buzzes, or CPU crackles to contaminate your sound! Zulu’s A/D and D/A converters are outside the computer in a shielded chassis, preventing radiated electrical noise. Zulu transfers digital audio data optically and has an independent power supply, protecting sensitive audio signals from conducted noise generated by the computer. Zulu’s ADAT optical interface provides immediate compatibility with a wide range of equipment including digital mixers and effects boxes, as well as digital I/O cards such as WaveCenter. For total convenience and flexibility, you can locate Zulu in a rack away from the computer using optical cables up to 10 meters (33 feet) long. Zulu offers further advantages such as front panel bi-color LED status lights that indicate signal level and clipping, unbalanced ¼" jacks (compatible with balanced TRS cables without an adaptor), and a rugged, compact half-rackspace enclosure.
